Question

96 Stratus has no spark !

1996 Dodge Stratus parked in garage and in the morning would not start. Starter turns engine but seems like their may be no spark from plugs. Removed cap and found coil in sound condition.

It's a V6 ES... I have been perusing through the websites finding alot of individuals having similar problems and each pointing toward the PCM. What I haven't completely understood is that if this device is replaced - is it like a plug and play or must it be programmed by a dealer? Secondly, where is the PCM located? Thanks in advance...

You need to first test a few functions during the failure.

1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester.
2) Test for injecter pulse using a small bulb called a noid light.
3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure.

Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out,
you will know which system is having the problem.
