1984 truck that runs good, after going about 10 - 30 miles it dies and won't start?

You need to first test a few functions during the failure.

1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester.
2) Test for injecter pulse using a small bulb called a noid light.
3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure.

Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out,
you will know which system is having the problem.

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: we have put a new fuel pump on. it ran good for one week. also, the fuel pump was changed to and electrical one about 10 years ago. we have also put on a different carburetor with a manual choke.
