JETTA AC making noises

My 99.5 Jetta GLS 2.0 Has been making squealing noises coming from the Air conditioner. I just had a belt replaced and it continues to be a problem. The mechanic wants to go thru the glove box and take a look at some vacuum thing, or somthing like that. THe noise only happens while idling, and at VERY low speeds 5mph max. And it only happens while the ac is on / and whill stop if I turn the ac off...

Sounds like he suspects a vacuum motor or leak that could be behind the dash pocket. These motors control the air flow doors for the system. If there is a leak in the system it could cause the symptom’s you described.

The purpose of it is to switch the air flow from vent to floor, to defrost as you change the selector. If it gets bad enough it can affect engine performance (worst case) usually it just causes the air to go out the defroster which is the default position. (Best case)

Thank you, hope this helped

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: It is coming from the right side (passenger side). They replaced the AC belt, which cost me 200 bucks, and that WASNT the problem. It only makes the squeling noise when im barely moving... But once engine speed picks up things go quiet.
