what are the benefits and detriments to using nitrous oxide in cars?

I am looking for benefits and pitfalls by installing a nitrous oxide system in a car. I need to know the installations effect on engine warranties as well.

The benifit is an instant large horse power boost.

The down side is you can only use it for a few seconds or it will destroy your engine.

It would void it.
