what causes my a/c to work one day and not the next?

My a/c has been checked for leaks and seemed to be ok for a least 1 day. It seems to have a mind of its own,works fine one day and then not the next. Some times it starts out blowing nice and cold and the farther I drive the warmer the air becomes. Any ideas on what to check?

There are way too many possibilities to even start guessing. What you need to do is have a shop put gauges on it so they can see what the pressures are doing as the system runs longer. That will give you an indication of what is happening inside the system and what could be causing it. Most shops will do this for under $40 and leak check the system. Once you give us this additional info we can give you some ideas.

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: The system was already checked for leaks,the condensor was cleaned out,lines were evacuated,oil was added,1/2 lb. freon added and dye added. 3 weeks later the system was again checked for leaks under the black light and no problems or leaks were found. I'm lost on this one.
