a/c suburban
Sent to Car Experts July 11 11:11 AM

I have a 1990 chevy suburban and have had the a/c go out. The mechanics have fixed it and it will last about a day before the compressor goes out. They had originally put in a rebuilt compressor but the one in it now is new. I don't know what to do now.

you still have a leak, they need to look a little closer at it, when the compressor goes off and stays off that means it has lost its charge. and the computer locked it out.
now let me get a little clearer on this when you say "compressor goes out" are you talking about it shuts off and dont run. or just locks up. Im guessing you are saying it shuts off and dont come back on. Now if it did lock up on you that means "your mechanic" did not add the required oil into the compressor before putting it on. please let me know

Reply to Joe Barcus's Post: Thanks it helps a lot, I'll see how it turns out and yes it does lock up but I've been told that the required fluids have been added. I'll certainly let you know - I've heard something about a high side blockage which i have no idea what it means. Gage readings are at 45 on the low and 225 on the high. Dual a/c, expansion valve in the rear that's been replaced, front evap. has been replaced, orifice replaced, dryer replaced, comp. replaced, 7 1/2 oz. pag oil into the whole system after flushing, new o-rings and seals, holds 30# vacuum for over 35 minutes. B4 if was delivered to me it had run for 2+ hours cold air. Only concern i've been told now is that about a high side blockage and they can't locate a dual core condensor. Whew, hope that all makes sense - wrote it down word for word from a phone call - because I don't understand much of it. Thanks again for your help!!

dont mean to be a pest here, one more thing that would cause your trouble although you said they replaced the expansion valve, could it be faulty? and flooding the low side putting liquid right on the head and locking it up. just for the heck of it have to make sure its attached right. just a thought,
