After doing some research for you, I have come to the conclusion that there are no apparent internal mechanical engine differences between the SS/T version and the regular production version of this engine used in the other trucks. The 5 hp difference in the engine specs is likely due to the performance exhaust and revised PCM calibration that probably incorporates a slightly richer fuel mix and more aggressive spark advance curve than the stock version of the truck. Nowhere in any of my reading have I found mention of any internal differences, nor do parts listings from any of my suppliers specify different pistons, rods, or valves for an ss/t model.
