96 dodge avenger automatic problem

i have a 96 dodge avenger 2.0 automatic.. today i put it in reverse and it did nothing then i reved it up and it worked.. so then i drove it and with it in drive it is only running in second gear... any other gear i put it in has no affect it just stays in second.. except reverse works fine.. hmmm any ideas is it the speed control possibly? thanks kevin

You need to have it checked for codes,Autozone will do it for free.The possibilities are its in default mode from an electrical failure or you have a valve body problem.Generaly speaking most transmission repairs are best left to a skilled shop.One mistake could make it much more expensive to repair.If this answer has helped please click on my accept button.If it helped you very much you may add a bonus if you wish.
