Loss of air blowing thru registers
Sent to Car Experts June 09 10:51 AM

Where are the vacuum lines on the 1998 Ford Ranger 2wd XLT and can I do anything to prevent "cut out" of air going thru registers? Air is blowing, and cold, just not through the ducts.

Theres 2 problem areas here. If this only happens when in "max air" mode the look under the hood on the far passenger side on top. There will be a white vacuum line there that rots out. Just splice in some vacuum hose to fix it.

If it does it alll the time, then it's a main vacuum sipply problem. There will be a black hose coming through the firewall. Follow it to it's source and look for breaks or holes. Follow any other lines attached to that one as they use a reservoir to store vacuum and that can also leak.
