Sent to Car Experts May 17 11:41 PM

I HAVE A 1987 hONDA ACCord.the engine just died under power the other day.am getting no spark from the coil.a friend diagnosed problem as defective ignition pickup.seems as if pickup( stator) and ignition module are both in question and both are expensive(no refund for electronic parts) How can these parts be tested separately?

You need to check for injecter pulse with a noid light. (shown below). The distributor pick up supplies reference signal for both the injecters AND ignition signal. If you lost both it would point to the pick up as being the problem. If it was only ignition pulse signal that you are losing, that would point to the ignition module. You first have to make sure they are both getting 12v power supply as the reference signal is a pulsing ground trigger.
