1998 Honda Prelude
Sent to Car Experts May 08 08:39 PM

I have a 98 Prelude. I took off the Steering wheel and air bag to repair the turn signal cancel issue. When I put it all back together (no extra parts), I now have the SRS light on. After I unhooked and reattached the battery cable it does not reset. What do I do now? Thanks for being there for me      Steve

You must have damaged the clockspring while you were in there. You'll have to replace it.

Reply to Tech501's Post: What is the Clock spring? Are you refering to the coil spring under the turnsignal cancel white plastic piece? I greased it to make it slide a little better. thanks for the fast reply

Yep, that's it. It's very delicate. You would have to scan for codes to be sure about it but i'm sure that's what happened..

Reply to Tech501's Post: Could the grease that is in the groove that is sets in be stopping it from making contact? It looks like it would take a real bone head to mess it up. (please don't say it)

If your sure it's plugged in, it must be bad. It has a coiled up strip inside, if it gets damaged, no connection.
