Oil and Battery lights on

(By the way, I know pretty much next to nothing about cars) I have a 99 Ford contour and today it started to drive funny, very jumpy almost like it was running out of gas, but it wasn't that and then it stopped and both the oil and battery light came on. I was able to restart it once to drive it back to work, but it happened again just recently. We checked the oil and its level seemed fine. What do you think the problem is? Do I need a complete oil change or what else may be wrong...? Thanks. Also, the battery is new and I haven't had any problems since getting it so I have a hard time believing its bad, but it seems something else is making it not work right.

 You may have a fuel pump starting to go. You'll need to put a fuel pressure gauge on it at the time it is acting up to know for sure.
