Reply to Virtual Wrench's Post: I got to the key lock, it was bad, but on left side of colom, there is a gear. That gear is broke, it goes behind the gear shift cover. Don't know how to get to switch. Colom is a tilt wheel.

The ignition switch is mounted on the lower portino of the column, you might have to remove the 2 bolts holding the coulmn to the dash so it can be lowered a bit to get access to the switch.

Hi,

Boy,,,,i sure do give you credit for attempting this,,,,,,,we as professionals, cringe at the thought of pulling these coulmns apart.

You will have to get the turnsignal switch out of the coulmn so the collar can be removed, there are also 3 or 4 small bolts in the center, under the tilt ball, that have to be removed too.

Also there are 2 pivot plugs that have to be removed, here is a diagram, they are pressed in there.

Reply to Virtual Wrench's Post: I am looking for the housing pivot pins. I am not sure what those are. are they the round pieces that look like a screw goes in them. I am looking threw my dads tools for J-23072 to remove them. My dad was a retired auto mechanic so I have just about every tool there is.

YES!

Those are what needs to be removed....they make a special tool that threads into that center hole, then they just pull out, you might be able to rig something up to use to do it instead of the tool, but,,,,be very carefull not to mess up the threads or you will have a heck of a time getting them out.

Good luck!

Reply to Virtual Wrench's Post: Thank you for your help. I just got the left side out. when I started the right one, all was going good, then the bolt snapped off inside of pin. So after all this work & finally getting there, .....I'm screwed... Called a auto shop to see if they could finish it for me. Thank you again for all your help! Charles Kellley
