i have a 1969 440 block(2536430-5), somebody told me it is a 6 pack motor. how do i find out if the engine is truely a 6 pack engine or just a regular 440. Any advice would come in handy because if it is really a 6 pack engine, i'll rebuild it. if it isn't, i'll probably put a crate 440 in my 1969 roadrunner.
thanks for your time.

2536430 = 440cu.in.
That only Identifies the Block Casting as a 440. No more.
The 6 Pack I.D. would be from the Vehicle V.I.N. & / or Heads, Intake & Cam I.D.
Also the Engine Pad should have a Number like D440 and the serial #'s on the passenger side along the pan rail is the last digits of the VIN # of the car it originally came in.

1968 - 1971. are Identified by the Cubic Inch & have a Prefix of PM or PT.
Otherwise prior Year Blocks, the I.D. is on the Left Front of Block below Thermostat Housing.
The serial #'s on the Left side Rear of Engine, along the pan rail is the last digits of the VIN # of the car it originally came in.

The Casting Number just tells you that it is a 440. The Block was used in Many type Applications.
What determined the "6 Pack" was the Cam, Heads & Manifold & Vehicle it was Installed in.
Not the Block

lurch,
one last thing.
so really the only way to know if this engine is a 6 pack engine is to look at the last 4 digits on the block by the pan, which will tell me what car it came out of. does this make sense. thanks for your help.
