I have a 1968 chevelle, I am putting a LT1 with cast iron heads into it and was wondering if I could do away with all the smog pump and egr pipes so I could use the headers off my old 350 and do I have to run a canister?

You can remove the smog pump and it's pipes. The egr should be mounted on the intake on that engine. You don't need a cannister because your gas cap is vented so you can just block off that hose. You don't have a check engine light so the codes that are going to be stored won't bother you and the engine should run fine.

Reply to Davo's Post: What about the pipe from the back of the intake to the exhaust manifold, can that be deleted and just make a cap for the hole in the intake manifold?
