i have a 1973 camaro z28 factory foue speed car how can i tell if the engine is a 1973 engine where are all the numbers on the engine i need to know where all the numbers are that will tell me the year the engine is?

Find the Motor Number:

Small Block Chevy: Machined pad in front of the passenger side cylinder head. Often hidden by the alterator.

If you can't find the Serial Number get the Casting Number:

Small block casting date is located on driver side rear of block on flange forward of bellhousing.

Post what you find back here & I will see if I can get you some Info......

the number is not on the pad the casting number on the block is 3970010 i hope this will help.

3970010 = 1969 - 1979 ...350 Block...Used for Low Power ( 185hp ) & High Power ( 370hp ) ...Cars, Trucks & Vettes.

The Serial Number should be there......It would give you More Info..........
