Sorry About the delay had to get some egg nog.

Open the tailgate. Adjacent to the tail light inside the are 2 round, black plastic pieces that hold the light in place. Use a pliers or screwdriver to pull or pry them out

The tail light assembly will swing out because the front is held in place by a simple tab.
