Chrysler has issued several updated versions of the software programming for the engine control computer. The dealer can connect the vehicle to their diagnostic scantool and upload the latest version of software into your car. It may help, it is hard to say. But, some of the recent updates were supposed to target idle issues. Though it is possible there is a faulty component still, more diagnosis might be necessary.

Once they have reflashed the computer to the latest version of software, see if it helps. If the problem still is not corrected, then the car should be left with the dealer so they can have time to duplicate the symptom. Make sure you are very specific in your description of the problem. Try to have the tech sit in the car with you and duplicate the problem if possible, so they know exactly what you're talking about. A lot of problems are misdiagnosed because of miscommunication at the dealership between the service writer and tech.

If it only happens in the morning or after the car has been sitting for a long time, the car should be left at the dealer so it can sit overnight, then the tech can have the scantool connected to look for causes while the problem is present. Once the problem goes away, he is probably not going to find it unless a specific service message has been issued that addresses this symptom. So, try to make sure the dealer knows what to do. Hopefully the tech will make a recording of the engine computer sensor data while the problem is occurring. Then he can track the problem by studying the data.

Insist that the dealer contact the Chrysler Technical Hotline once they have duplicated the problem. This way they will be more likely to have the latest information about the issue. Many times dealers do not keep their scan tools updated, for example, and the latest version of software is not loaded into the car because the dealer's scantool software is too old. Checking with the holtine is a good way for them to confirm that they are using the latest fix information.

So, the main things to do next:
1. Get the car's computer reflashed to latest level
2. Make sure dealer feels the problem for themselves

Good luck, I hope they can get this resolved quickly for you!
