Question

2000 chrysler sebring 2.5 stalling hard start clank noise

2000 chyrsler sebring 2.5l v6 engine 1st started dying occassionally at slow speed or while turning or higher speed dying then come back to life by itself. scarry. ses light on. would start right back up. started to make clanking noise.and dying became worse. and harder to restart. has to sit 1/2 hour before restart. dealer says flywheel loose and causing interference with crankshaft sensor, causing it to die all the time. says sensor isnt bad. but dying began before clanking noise. what is your opinion and should i be worried about anything else.

im being charged 700.00$ and wanted a second opinion. i thought since it began dying first that the sensor was bad also. i know the clanking noise probably is the flywheel. do these sensors usually go out at any certain mileage and ashould i have him replace it while hes in there. the car has 114000 miles

 The sensor reads from the flywheel and it needs a consistent steady  signal. If the flywheel is moving at all, regardless of whether it's making any noise, that will interfere with the crank sensor signal. Even it it wasn't interfering with the cranks signal, your risking doing serious damage to your crankshaft or other components by driving it that way. There's other reasons to go ahead with that repair.
