1997 Suburban Hard to Diagnose Problem-Clunk from rear

Sent to Car Experts February 24, 2005 6:20 p.m.

1997 Chevrolet Suburban makes a clunking sound coming from the rear. The vehicle feels as if it has been hit from the rear. The "check engine" light comes on. This appears to happen at cooler outsider temperatures. I have had the Throttle Control Sensor replaced but this did not repair the problem. The problem is intermitent.

The drive train, U-joints have been visually inspected by a mechanic.

Suburban has 105,000 miles.

You need to have the computer scanned to retreive the codes that were set when the check engine light came on. AutoZone will do this for free. Post back with the code numbers and don't let AutoZone interpret or sell you anything yet.
