Sent to Car Experts January 30 03:51 AM

I have an EGR Insufficient flow code on a 2000 honda accord with the v6 what should I do to keep the check engine light from comming back on? I cleaned the carbon out of the egr valve and cleared the code and the light came back on what else could be the problem? Thank you

Many of those work like the Fords and use a feedback transducer that reads exhaust pressure as an input to the PCM to determine EGR activation. That transducer can be bad. I haven't seen too many carbon problems in Hondas but it's possible. You can determine if the port is clear by applying vacuum directly to the valve while the engine is idling. The RPMs should drop noticably if the passage is clear. You can also test the control solonoid by applying power and ground to the solonoid with a vacuum gauge tee-ed into the EGR hose.
