2003 chevy tahoe fuel pump/stalling issue
Sent to Car Experts July 29 11:59 AM

i have a 2003 chevrolet tahoe. it was experiencing surging after driving for around two hours and has approx. 90,000 miles. i took it to a dealer which read the codes and felt it would need a fuel pump. i have replaced a fuel pump with a used pump to save cost. however, it still has similar symptoms of a bad fuel pump after being driven for and hour or so. is there anything else i should check or did i just get another bad pump? i have heard of a solenoid on the gas tank going bad causing similar problems.

Optional Information:
2003 Chevrolet tahoe 5.3l

Already Tried:
replaced fuel pump

two things to check are the fuel filter And also the fuel pressure regulater Easy to change about 5min job around 107.00 from dealer. Avacumm test can be doneto verify if diaphragm is ruptured. There is no check engine light on or abs light correct? If this has been helpful an accept would be appreciated or if you need more info let me know.Thank you Bill

Reply to Bill's Post: no check engine light. already serviced at dealer before fuel pump replaced. codes were for multiple misfires and lean mix @ o2 sensor. service advisor suggested fuel pump. it also "felt" like a fuel pump. however, just prior to replacing pump and also after replacing pump (and filter) is when it began to stall. i can still hear fuel pump running when vehicle is stalling. i have read two similar entries on blogs that are mentioning crankshaft postioning sensor. that is the first i have heard of press. regulator
