This may be as simple as changing the fuel filter but I suggest you get the codes retrieved as they will isolate the issue to a specific circuit or issue for further diagnosis. Most any parts store will check codes for FREE if you can get to one.I will post the code list for you.Once we have the codes we can do whatever is required to repair this.I have all the specs and procedures for anything from Fuel filter replacement to injector pump adjustments and more right here at my fingertips. To just start replacing parts or going through all the sensors and engine control items that can cause this would be too time consuming and may still not reveal the issue.I would definately change that filter first though if you have not done so recently.
6.5L ENGINE
See Figure 8
-
Remove the fuel tank cap to release any pressure or vacuum in the tank.
-
If equipped, remove the upper intake manifold cover.
-
Open the air bleed valve on top of the filter assembly.
-
Spin off the element nut at the top of the filter-it looks like a large knurled knob.
-
Lift the filter element out of the header assembly.
To install:
-
Clean the mating surfaces on the header assembly and the filter. Align the widest key slot in the element cap with that in the header assembly, push the element down until the two surfaces make contact, then tighten the nut by hand.

-
Open the air bleed valve on top of the filter assembly. Connect a hose to the bleeder valve and insert the other end into a suitable glass container.
-
Disconnect the fuel injection pump shut-down solenoid wire or the FUEL SOL relay center fuse (whichever applies to your vehicle, then crank the engine in 10-15 second intervals until clear, clean fuel is coming out of the hose.
Wait about one minute between cranking intervals!
-
Remove the hose and close the bleeder valve.
-
Connect the shut-down solenoid wire or fuse and install the fuel cap. Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes. Check for leaks.
