Firebird probles

I have a 2000 firebird and while leaving a stop light I stepped down on the gas and it acted as if it had lost all power I held it there to see if it would come back and as it got close to shifting it started knocking I let up and it shifted but still had very little power it acted as if it were trying to kick in and go but never did any help would be great

Did you look at all your gauges?
Was everything normal?
Did you check you oil level and coolant level?

Is the engine still making noises or is the only symptom just the power loss?

Is the check engine light coming on?

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: the check engine light is on but it is the o2 sensor and still knocks under hard acceleration and power loss
