I have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS that has an intermittent problem. The check engine light comes on intermittently about every 2000 miles then goes off after several 100 miles. Lately I have had a problem where it will stop running on the Interstate, but has restarted again after I get to the side of the road and restart it. I took it to a local mechanic to investigate the problem and he said the code indicated a crank sensor error. He couldn't find anything wrong a suggested I drive it until it fails to start.
Any suggestions?

Optional Information:
