I have a 1997 chevy blazer and the check engine light comes on and when I park the car the key will not come out of the ignition, After a day or so everthing works fine again, Help curtiscooper@comcast.net

It would be a good idea to have the codes checked.Autozone will do it for free.If you come up with 4-5 transmission related codes it would be a safe bet to replace the ignition switch in the column.Don't confuse the switch with the part the key goes in that is the lock cylinder.

Reply to Davo/diablo666's Post: Why would the check engine light come on while driving down the road and when you stop not let you get the key out it seems to me that it is either good or bad.

There is a little hole in the bottom of the steering collum ( remove the plastic plug) underneath ther is a reset button to relase the key from the switch it has two wires going to it that i traced back the shifter on the floor are you sure that this switch is getting energized properly as when I push it in it the key comes out easily
