2002 Chevy S10 4WD Crew Cab, 3 weeks ago it wouldn't ...

2002 Chevy S10 4WD Crew Cab, 3 weeks ago it wouldn't stay running while idling and wouldn't start without giving it a jump after 1 or 2 tries at starting. I replaced the battery ( was told that the battery had a bad cell in it.) The problem didn't repeat itself for a few days and then returned. I took it to a Chevy garage and they claimed a loose neg. cable and stripped terminal, they relaced them. A couple of days later the problem returned. When the car won't idle and charge correctly I can't keep it running when I sloww to stop or turn, but when I can get it to run smoothly when I accelerate all the internal led displays flash every few seconds. Please help, do you know what the problem is or do you know if this is a common Chevy/S10 problem.

When I dropped the truck off they mentioed that it could be the ignition switch and I had expected that to be on the items list of repair but it wasn't. They just change the neg connector to the batt and nothing else was said about what was checked or not. Could it also be the ignition module instead. They alresdy charged me $72 bucks for a bad diagnoses and 15 min labor.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Trust me it's not an ignition module. That will not require a jump to start. The ignition switch can affect many systems on your truck though. You could change it your self if you have tools.A few torx bits and a 10mm and 7mm is all you should need.Oh and one female torx a number 4 or 5 to remove the upper shroud from the column.
