rough idle and check engine light

Hey, I've got a 1999 GMC Savanna. About a month or more ago it began to idle rough and not run as well as it used to, and the check engine light came on. I was able to get it to go off and make it run better by cleaning the air filter. But now it wont go off anymore and it continues to run rough. It has not had a tune up for a long time,( I know duh) but I am very busy. Is it a tune-up problem, plugs, mixture etc. or a computer problem, or what? & nbsp;
