Check engine light keeps reappearing.

1996 Ford Crown Victoria. Check engine light keeps reappearing. Has been checked by certified mechanics. The fuel injector for the number one cylinder was relocated and the problem still returns to number one cylinder. The ignition wires have been replaced. The heads were done. There was and still is a knock, not a ping, (in my opinion that could be a valve. What is my next step? Redo the heads? Please reply to Jweatherbie@aol.com

Your first step is to have the computer scanned to retreive the trouble codes that were set when the check engine light came on. Those codes will get you pointed in the right direction. If you have an AutoZone in your area, they will read them for free.
