MY TRANSMISSION DOES NOT WORK IN DRIVE, BUT IS OK IN LOW, 2nd &3RD and reverse...how big of a problem?

You are going to have to have some one check for codes to see if the trans is turning the light on.I think those trucks have a seperate transmission light if I'm remembering properly.Either way it sounds like a internal part is bad it could be as simple as a solenoid but I doubt it.You may be able to get some one to check the cable adjustment and get lucky if its between positions.I suggest you consult a local trans shop to at least offer an opinion.If it has high miles it will most likely need overhauled.You should do it soon so it can be repaired before more damage is caused.If this answer has helped you please click on my accept button.If you feel it helped you very much you may add a bonus if you wish.
