I have a 2002 ford ranger 4 cyl 2.3L auto trans 2W dr. with 26,000 miles. Lately, the past couple of months, when the whether is warm, about 70 or higher, the truck will occasionally not restart after being idle for 10 to 30 minutes after an initial drive. It will finally start back up without a problem if I allow it to sit an additional hour after the failed restart. I've taken it back to ford twice in the past 2 months for this problem and their computer doesn't show any code errors. They have kept the car all day on both occasions and claim that it started each time they tried it without any problem, even after turning it back off and trying to restart in 20 to 30 minutes. In the past week, it has happened twice and they cannot give me a clue to why this is happening. Of course this is very frustrating when driving to a store, or running a short errand. This is an intermittant problem that happens when the whether is warm, although I never have a problem starting it the first time of the day, or after it has been idle for at least an hour or more. It always seems to happen when the truck has been idle only 10 to 30 minutes. The a/c and heater are always off when I try and restart. The car is still under warranty for the next couple months, then it will cost $50.00 bucks each time to the dealer when my extended warranty kicks in. Can you help me solve this problem?
