drivability on 1990 cadillac
Sent to Car Experts April 12 04:52 PM

If I unhook my throttle position sensor on my 1990 4.5 cadillac, what's the worst that can happen? I had it hooked up by a shop and it wasn't right. When I turned the key to on the car the gas pedal would make little pumps without me touching it, this didn't happen until the shop so-called fix the sensor, I un-hooked it and the car drives better, should I leave it like this!

It is bound to effect the performace and fuel economy to some degree the PCM uses the information from the tps aswell as all the other sensors to give the car maximum efficency .

As far as doing any harm no it won't do any physical harm, but it could be something as simple as as needing an adjustment.

You should take it back and make the shop correct the situation (for free)

You ask should I leave it like this  The answer is you could but if you have emissions inpection in your state you have to get it corrected before that is done.
