98 Z24 CHEVY CAVALIER NOISES

WHEN I DRIVE APPOX. 45MPH AND UP.. IN FRONT LEFT TIRE AREA, I HAVE A RUBBING NOISE, IT ONLY DOES IT WHEN I TURN MY WHEEL 15 DEGREES TO THE LEFT. IT DOESN’T DO IT WHEN I TURN TURN LEFT, JUST WHEN IT DRIVES.. I JUST HAD MY BRAKES, AND ROTERS CHANGED, AND THAT’S WHEN IT STARTED TO DO IT.. MY FRIEND TELLS ME IT COULD BE I NEED MY TIRES BALANCED, AND ALIGNED. I NEED HELP IT IS BUGGING ME..

I wouls suspect the backing plate is touching the rotor in one place. It rides with very little clearance anyway and if he pushed or pulled on it, it may be touching now. Bring it back to the guy that changed the brakes. It should do it for free.

Reply to Tech501's Post: SO WHY IS THIS DOING THIS ONLY WHEN I TURN MY WHEEL SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT.. I HAD THE GUY WHO DONE IT LOOK OVER HIS WORK, AND HAD A DIFFERENT TECH. LOOK AT IT AND HE SAID IS WORK WAS DONE PROPERLY.. ANOTHER QUESTION I'M TAKING A TRIP THIS WEEKEND.. THE TRIP IS LIKE 4 HRS LONG IS IT OK TO TAKE MY CAR ON THIS LONG OF A HAUL.. WILL MY CAR BREAK DOWN OR ANYTHING..

I can't tell you that. I'm giving you ideas of what to look for but somebody has to physically find the problem. Did they even road test the car to hear the noise. If it is the backing plate, it's just a matter of pushing it away from the rotor. It only does it when turning because the rotor will lean ever so slightly from play in the bearing.
