Fuse

Sent to Car Experts February 21 12:41 AM

I have a 97 Mustang GT and I need to remove my fuel pump fuse but I don’t know wich one it is. I can’t seem to find my owners manual but I think it's a 20 amp fuse, the only problem is there are 4 of them. A picture would be most helpfull but if you can find out anything that would be great too. Thanks

In the engine compartment fuse box there is a 20 amp marked "fuel pump fuse. the relay is in the "constant control module" so unplugging that would kill it also but that would also kill the cooling fan and A/C

Reply to Tech501's Post: the fuse is located in my power distribution box and is unlabeled, and I need something a little more exact than the process of elimination for failure to remove the right one could result in severe engine damage.

You could always just go to the tank and unplug the harness if your trying to disable it for an injecter cleaning or something like that.

I'm a little confused here. Do you need to remove it just during installation because unplugging the harness would accomplish that. If your looking to disable the pump circuit permanently, the car won't run without it. That chip doesn't create another whole fuel pump circuit.

It may have a fuel program of it own, but the fuel pump relay is controlled by the PCM anyway. Your programmer may want control of the pump but I doubt it's going to run all new wiring to the pump when it's already in place. What your saying is just not making sense. Regardless of what kind of injection management system you use, it needs a fuel pump and even if it wants different pressures, that's done at the engine. Unless your installing another whole fuel pump, you will need that one and it's wiring to control it.
