(Not a Car Question?)

why does my car jerk when in idle?

Sent to Car Experts February 04 12:25 PM

I have a 93' Acura Legend. When my car is in idle, especially in drive, my car starts to jerk for one second, sometimes two, every few seconds. At the same time the car jerks, the lights in my dash, instrument panel, headlights and tail lights seem to dim. Please notice I just had a brand new transmission put in about 450 miles ago. When my tranny started to slip, I started to experience the jerking. The jerking now started about 120 to 150 miles after the new tranny was put in. Please help.

  Hello,
This problem could be one of several. It sounds as if it could be a lose connection. Then again it could be what is called the throttle angle sensor. I'm thinking of a couple more things it could be.
You probably will have to let someone with the proper test equipment take a look at it while it shows the problem. I know that's a real pain and not much of an answer. The thing is guessing at the problem and replacing parts cost you a lot of unnecessary expense. Especially when it can be more than one or a combination of problems.
Best Wishes

Reply to bfox4546's Post: Thank you for you time. I greatly appreciate it. I had a feeling I would just have to run a diagnostics. At first I thought I needed new rings or maybe even having a piston not acting right. Your right, it could a number of things. Again I appreciate the help. Thank you
