Forgot to mention your lighting problem.
If this problem is related to a lack of voltage
due to your charging sytem concerns..fix the alt
problem first. Barring that ,..
Dash illumination goind out when lights are turned on is a function of the dimmer control.
I frequently find a customer has inadventantly turned it down. Otherwise you should check the illumination fuse , which is separate from the headlight fuses, usually marked dash , or illum.
Get a 12v test light and check them all anyway.
If the fuses are good it may be in the headlamp switch (multifunction switch) or the connector thereof. The more remote possibility is you have a shorted wire on the circuit.

Then the lighting problem is the low voltage.
If you have added items, especially directly to the battery you may be drawing the battery down while the car sits. If the car dies while moving down the road its alt related. If you coming out to a dead battery frequently, you have a parasitic drain. (something is remaining on) Recharging a dead battery over and over again will certainly shorten the alts life.
Again I must mention .. OEM Honda parts
I dont buy boxed rebuilds from part stores for any brand in fact, I use a local trustworthy rebuilder.
