How can I get gas to the engine of my 1990 volvo?

On Sunday I left my car with pretty much no gas in it and went to bed. Monday morning I started it up with no problem, but i didn't let it warm up because i wanted to go to get gas. when putting gas in the car it shut off and would not start up again. when i turn the key it does make a clicking noise but that is all the noise it makes. It doesn't even sound like it wants to turn on. The battery is fine and i checked the fuse for the fuel pump. I also put in the prestone cold start and that didn't work either. What else can I do? Please help.

 Does the starter spin the engine over normally.. but it don't fire up?

Reply to jon_050's Post: i'm not really sure what you mean. but, usually when i turned the key it would just turn on and i wouldn't hear the click-click sound.
