I have a 1977 Dodge V8 360 CID 2 barrell carb. electronic ignitionand a mechanical fuel pump. It always runs great. Two days ago as I came to a stop sign, the engine stalled, and wouln't start. After a prolonged period, I held gas pedal to floor and it started, but won't idle. It seems to run rough at low speed, but appears to run smoother with more speed. I noticed that the tail pipe was blacker than ususal, and now black smoke occassionally come out. I replaced the spark plugs, but it still won't idle and appears to run rough at low rpm's. While attempting to keep it running, an occassional "pop" can be heard through the carb. Also, the vehicle's automatic choke wouln't engage for fast idle. Any ideas???
