my car feels like the brakes are tightening without me ...

my car feels like the brakes are tightening without me pushing the brake pedal. When you start and put the car into reverse or drive, the car doesn't move on it's own. You have to press the accelerator to move an inch. It also has a horrible squealing sound. What's wrong ?
