Question

Motor doesn't fire

Sent to Car Experts November 21, 2004 10:44 a.m.

2000 Olds Alero-Car was running slightly sluggish before this occured. I started my car, drove about 100 feet and the engine cut off. Now when I try to start the car, the engine turns over at normal speed but the engine won’t fire. The battery seems to be working fine, I still have plenty of power to turn the engine over but I can’t start the car. I have not changed the fuel filter or fuel pump. What is the likelihood it could be either of these two items? What else could the problem be? The car has 83k miles. Thanks!

Response to enginboy's Post: I'm not sure how to determine either one. I attempted to locate the fuel line under the hood (in an attempt to disconnect and see if fuel was being pressured thru the line) but could not locate it, and I'm not sure if the plugs are firing. I try disconnecting a plug to see if its firing. Is there another way to check fuel pressure?
Thanks
