Question

1990 jimmy s15 4.3l v6 4wd

Sent to Car Experts September 17, 2006 8:05 p.m.

i have a 1990 gmc jimmy s15. this morning the car was started and but no pulleys nor belt would turn.   so i found that the a/c clutch bearings locked up and i went and got a new compressor and kit with the pulley and bearings. i do know that there are 3 bolts to take the entire compressor and pulley off without having to take the pulley off seperately. question is,   how do you get the bottom right bolt out without having to take the pulley off and if you cant, how do you take the pulley off, do you need a special tool or what needs to be done? i have beat and beat this thing trying to get it off with absolutely no luck what so ever.   PLEASE HELP

ACCEPTED Check Mark

The bolt has one flat edge and will come out if rotated in the correct position.

Make sure it's not the compressor itseld seized instead of just the clutch pulley,

Relist: I still need help.
the head of the bolt will not get past the pulley, is there a easier way to move the pulley so i can get top part of the head past the pulley to line the flat edge up and remove it

REPLIED Check Mark

No, the bolt has to slide by the pulley. No other way off.

sorry to be a pain, but i cant get any part of the head of the bolt pass the pulley, 8th of an inch left to get any part of the bolt head past the pulley, would it be better to put the other two bolts in and try to get that one out first or would it even matter, been working on this thing for about 4 hours, kicking my butt all over the place right now.
