95 Altima that won't stay running
Sent to Car Experts August 29 01:16 PM

I have a 95 Nissan Altima - If you drive it for more than 20 minutes and everything gets hot the car will die. It will still turn over but not start; it acts like it isn't getting any fuel but you can smell where it's overloading itself.
But you try to start the car 2 hrs later when everythings cooled off it will run no problem for another 20 minutes or so. Could you please help me out?
Thanks

Greetings!

If your car is cranking over and is not starting, We will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing.

Spark

Fuel

Compression

All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. Compression tester, spark tester and fuel pressure gauge are all accessible at your local auto store. I cant help u any further until I know this.

all three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely carefull when doing these tests.

To my understanding there has to be some compression for the car to start. I don't have the money to go and buy test kits and that is why I requested your help to give me possible things to look at and see if they are running properly.

Try to spray some starting fluid in the intake when its not starting to see if this will help it start.

Reply to amedee's Post: I got all 3 tests done and they are showing to be good, we also had them hook it up to the diagnosing computer and everything checked out there also.
