Question

92 Honda Accord temp gauge spike

Sent to Car Experts August 27, 2006 4:50 p.m.

I have a 92 Honda Accord. The temperature gauge spikes until the fans come on. They only stay on for 8 seconds. I have replaced termostat, temp sending unit, condensor fan switch, coolant temperature sensor for the ECM and radiator fan switch. In addition, I flushed the radiator with radiator flush. The gauge spikes when you come to a stop. What have I missed?

Optional Information:
1992 Honda accord lx 2.2 liter

Already Tried:
Replaced termostat, condensor fan switch, sending unit, radiator fan switch, coolant temp sensor for ECM, flushed radiator with radiator flush and have new anti-freeze 50/50

it sounds like you have air in the system when car warms up feel hose to thermostat. if air is in systemm you will be able to feel it gurgle(bubble) also double check radiator for cold spots after warmed up thoroughly if you have cold spots it is plugged.Check water pump for play in shaft and leakage .If you need more info let me know or if this has been helpful an accept would be appreciated. thank you Bill.

if there is no air in system and all mechanical is good check rad fan relay and control module. Copyright laws don't allow me to give you a schematic but if you go to autozone.com go under vehichle manuals enter your vehichle info, then proceed to chassis electrical fig. 39 shows you the layout, and color codes. let me know what you find.
