Car does not start

My car does not start. Sometimes it clicks and does not start, sometimes it does nothing. Sometimes all the lights go dim and crazy and the needles on the dashboard go nuts as well. It has been happening on and off for a while, but it would normally start. Now it does not start at all, unless I jump it. Once I turn off after jumping, it goes completley dead again. Any ideas?
