Possible blown headgasket?????

I am looking at purchasing a mid 90's camaro. The man told me the only problem is sometimes the car will shut off if he takes a sharp turn. He had a mechanic come out and he said it may have been a blown head gasket. Is that logical? Would you suggest driving it a distance such as 5 hours?
