Looking at a car I have been told it had the following problem

new bmw told "Crankshaft Radial Oil Seal (Trans End)" was replaced.
Is this significant..... why would it go

This is a seal that seals crank shaft and keeps the oil inside the engine.The seal fails and leaks oil out of the engine.The reason it failed could be several things,the most likely is a substandard oil seal.It's a significant repair that can cost several hundred dollars.

Not at all this adds value to this car.All cars have some sort of broblems,this is just something that you won't have to do to trpair this car.Just because this was repiared doent mean that you will have this same problem,the repair has all ready been done.If the repair was done correctly then it's a asset
