FORD ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

Sent to Car Experts August 03, 2006 1:52 p.m.

6 weeks ago my 99 ford expedition failed to start one day, wouldn't turn over, no lights, no clicking, just dead, wouldn't even take a jump. I towed it to the dealer and they put a new battery in it. Three days ago, same thing happened. This time a guy who happened to be there suggested I add water to the battery because it was low. So we added the water and jumped the car. I ran it for about an hour to let the battery charge back up and have not had any more problems with the battery, however, now, when I accellerate the door ajar light comes on with interior lights and a tone sounds and when I brake the locks throw down. It's been at the dealer three days and they can't figure it out. How could a battery failure cause this? And what's with this maintanance free batery that needs water? I live in Florida and it has been hot but this was a brand new batery. I spoke with the dealer today and they said they found a door that wasn't closing tightly but that the door ajar light was still on after they aligned the door. I think the dealer is way off base. Hello guys?! If the door was misalligned was it not misalligned before the battery quit? So why wasn't the door ajar light on before the battery quit? I'm not a mechanic but this is basic logic to me. Please help. Oh and by the way both times the battery quit I was running quick errands so the sequence of events went like this: Pull into a parking space, turn car off, go into store, return 10 miniutes later, car wont start. Dead! I think this is important to know because it shows that the lights were not left on accidentally overnight or some such thing.
