oil leak
Sent to Car Experts August 03 05:10 AM

I have a 1987 Chev S10 pickup with the V6 engine. I think it is 2.8 l size. It has about 100,000 miles on it and it leaks oil like crazy. I get about 30 mile and it needs a quart of oil. I think the leak is coming from around the driver's side of the engi

ne and it looks like it is coming from the area where the oil filter screws in.

How can I locate it easy?

The oil filter is located right close to the exhaust pipe from that left band of the V6, not easy to get too especially if the exhaust pipe is hot. I have it in the garage right (I will have to clean up the oil from the floor, of course) so it can cool and maybe I can get under it to look. I guess I will raise the car up on to jackstands securely and start the engine, get under it and see if I can see where the oil is coming from. It leaks out so much that I have to add about 1 quart every 30 miles and oil is not getting any cheaper! I should be able to see where it is coming from.   am sure it is not using that much but, with 100,000 miles on it, the engine could be a little tired.

Any suggestions? Please email them to me.
