I had a timing belt replaced over a year ago on a 1994 pathfinder. I recently took the car in a year later to get a CV boot replaced. The service techs expressed to me that the timing belt that was replaced by another company is over tensioned and making a "whisping noise". My question is how can you tell a timing belt is over tensioned without taking the engine apart? The techs didn't not take the engine apart. Also could there be another problem that I should address or is the the company that originally replaced my timing belt be accountable if the belt is not installed correctly?
