Charging Problem

Sent to Car Experts July 29, 2006 5:24 p.m.

1994 Nissan Altima GXE charging problem. At first battery light & brake light would come on. I checked charging, was putting out 12.5 Volts to the battery. Replaced alternator. Battery & brake light went out. Started charging, 13.86 Volts. Two days later car died. Took to Nissan dealer, they couldn't get a code reading. I took the car home. Installed a new battery. Intermittent charge at 14.6 Volts for about 5 seconds. Drops to 11.2 Volts while idling with lights and AC on. I shut the car off & left headlights on bright for 10 minutes. Checked battery voltage at 12.11 volts. Started car & drops to 11.6 volts with headlamps on. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.
